From our Diocesan eNews:
Anti-Slavery Day on 18th October marks the beginning of Freedom Week, and aims to raise awareness about all who are trafficked into slavery in different ways now in our county, in our country and throughout the world. Modern slavery is an umbrella term for all forms of slavery, trafficking and exploitation with 40.3 million people estimated to be trapped in some form of modern slavery in the world today.
The Clewer Initiative enables Church of England dioceses and churches to raise awareness of modern slavery, identify victims and to help provide victim support and care. Follow this link for their resources such as prayers, service guide, children's activities, posters and a rural toolkit to raise awareness. There are also resources to help people spot modern slavery and what to do about it. For further information please visit the Clewer website here.
In our Diocese there will be two exhibitions with information and resources on modern slavery at either the University or Cathedral.
Mothers' Union is supporting the Clewer Initiative, so if you are free on Friday 18th October why not go along to one of the exhibitions.
