Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come launch: Lambeth Palace 9.2.17

Information from Mary Sumner House:

A large group from a wide range of denominations and organisations gathered at Lambeth Palace for this launch; the purpose of which was to share information and resources and give the opportunity to network together.

Archbishop Justin began with an explanation of the background to Thy Kingdom Come and their awareness of the move of the Holy Spirit in 2016 which prompted them to continue the initiative in 2017 and to extend it into a global prayer movement.

When the wind of the Spirit is blowing, hoist the sails.

Archbishop Justin

He then gave an exhortation from Luke 11:5-13 on praying persistently, and the willingness of God to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.

There was a presentation about the website and the resources produced for 2017. We were each given a box of the resources, which included a usb stick with the downloadable resources, powerpoint, articles, photographs and other material which will be particularly helpful for publicity purposes.

Nicola James is our point of contact at Lambeth Palace for Thy Kingdom Come. She is keen to connect us with one of the Bishops concerned with the global reach of the initiative - particularly in the light of our Provincial Presidents Meeting in March.

Next steps:

  • We will begin to promote Thy Kingdom Come on the Mothers’ Union website and social media (including the most recent short video by Archbishop Justin, which is very powerful).
  • There will be an interview with the Archbishop of Canterbury about Thy Kingdom Come in the May/June issue of Families First, with information about Mothers’ Union involvement.
  • There will be more thoughts on how to engage in the initiative to follow in the coming weeks.
