Our Diocesan AGM was held in Stowmarket, with a good attendance of members from across Suffolk. Copies of some of the documents can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
The meeting opened with worship from the Service of Nones. The main business of the AGM proceeded smoothly, with an excellent report from our Diocesan President Linda Ginn. She has prepared a comprehensive sheet about all the different things going on in the Diocese and the wider MU under the title 'Building Hope and Confidence'.
Diocesan member Sue Kistruck told the meeting about a local project 'Women for women' to collect knickers for the women migrants on the Greek island of Lesbos. Many of them have no underwear and feel very vulnerable. It was agreed that as a Diocese we would support this appeal, and branches or individuals can collect knickers and pass on to Sue or contact Jan Bettley directly (more details can be downloaded below).
Sarah Friswell, volunteer and PR manager from the Cathedral gave a very interesting and well illustrated talk about the history of the Cathedral and the special events planned for this year to celebrate one thousand years since King Canute founded the Abbey of St Edmund. More information can be found on the Abbey 1000 website.
