OK maybe not a typical day, but read on to find out what our Diocesan President Linda Ginn has been up to in the last few days, as she attended the DPs conference at High Leighs.
Diocesan Presidents Conference at High Leigh Conference Centre, Hertfordshire - 11-13 November 2019
Meeting up with 30 other Diocesan Presidents from the Canterbury Province of the Anglican Communion, we have had an amazing forty-eight hours - hearing stories from overseas from the recent Worldwide Conference about peace and safety (conflict resolution); gender justice (women and girls); and self-reliance (building livelihoods).
Closer to home we learned about the new prison charity “Outfit” providing clothes from ex-tv drama productions for newly released prisoners; MU Live (collecting data from our branches to attract more funding), and more developments in our partnership with the Clewer initiative for modern-day slavery.
New opportunities for Membership and Friends of MU were discussed, updates re the raffle, and much, much more! We had a fun evening which ended up making papers elephants ... ! The biggest impact for me was an inspiring PowerPoint presentation showing how branch structures are changing and evolving - we continue to show Christian care for families but in new and imaginative ways - it’s all very exciting! More news will follow.... Linda (DP)
The food was good....
