Sylvia Helena Craig 12th June 1924 – 24th February 2019
It is with sadness that we record the death of Sylvia Craig, aged 94. Although her funeral took place in Essex, a small band of MU members recently attended a special Service of Thanksgiving at St Leonard’s Church, Horringer. Several members of her family spoke warmly of her extensive knowledge, her musical talent and her caring nature, and during a pause for reflection her friend Stephanie played The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens on the violin. Some members may remember how Sylvia used to write articles for the EADT once a fortnight (on Saturdays); how she held wonderful garden parties for the MU at her home in Bury in the summer and how she would often be seen driving her sports car until she was at least 80! Sadly, from 2007, Sylvia developed dementia and was in a care home in Hadleigh until she suffered a broken leg and her dementia worsened. Her last few years were spent at St Peter’s Court in Bury. A letter of condolence has been sent on behalf of MU to her family. A staunch member of MU, Sylvia will be sadly missed.
