Dora Carcas

Dora was a member of Mothers’ Union and although she had been unable to attend meetings for several years she was always interested in what was happening. Until she moved into a care home Dora had a ladybird money box which she filled and regularly handed in for the work of Mothers’ Union overseas. Until she was 100 years old she would make a cake for refreshments which she sent with her daughter Jenny who is a member and visited Dora every day.

Dora did not dwell in the past and the good old days, never saying things aren’t what they use to be, she lived in the present and looked to the future. A person of faith who lived in, and shared, God’s love, at peace with Him. At her funeral the reading was from Philippians Chapter 4 verses 4 – 9 and this reflected her life. She was a wonderful example and an inspiration. On her 109th birthday in August she sat in The Hut on Felixstowe sea front delighted to be visited by her family and friends on a beautiful sunny afternoon. We thank God for her life and her love.
