Fressingfield

We are a Benefice branch with 27 members, representing the churches of Fressingfield, Mendham, Metfield, Weybread, Withersdale and Stradbroke.

Our monthly meetings are held at The Sancroft Hall, Fressingfield on the first Thursday of each month, beginning at 2.30 pm.  In August we have a garden meeting, and in December we invite guests to join us for a delicious Advent tea.

Each meeting begins with a short act of worship, followed by a speaker or activity, then refreshments are served while members socialise. We always have a bring and buy stall, too.

We concern ourselves with the well-being of our members and ensure that we stay in touch with phone calls and emails. We stay in contact with former members and current members in Care Homes.  All members receive the monthly Diocesan Newsletter with information from Central Mothers’ Union and from within the diocese.

Members are continuing to knit hats for seafarers, make drip-covering bags and tapestry crosses for hospital patients, fill emergency wash-bags for patients who arrive in Ipswich Hospital without one, send cards on Baptism anniversaries, collect items for the Women's Refuge and and support the Mothers’ Mercy Home in Kagera.

As part of the North Suffolk Area we are involved in the provision of stock, pricing and the running of the I-Chameleon Shop in Halesworth each autumn.  In 2021 this enabled the area to raise £1500 which has been used to support MU funds both in Britain & Ireland and Overseas, buy gift tokens for the Women’s Refuge in Ipswich and provide Christmas gifts for guests at the Night Shelter.

Mothers’ Union continues to flourish in our Benefice and we welcome new members, both male and female, and we are very happy to welcome interested visitors.

For more information please contact Christine Christian on 01379 853977 or email.
